Sun

There is expected to be extreme temperatures towards the end of this weekend and heading into next week. Heat related illnesses such as heat exhaustion & heat stroke can develop quickly and become life-threatening if not addressed. The Village of Richfield Senior Center will have extended hours (open from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM) the week of June 23, 2025 and is open to all. Additionally, please review some key tips to stay safe during heat waves:

  • Hydrate often – Drink water regularly, even if you’re not thirsty.
  • Take breaks in shaded or cool areas – Don’t wait until you feel overheated.
  • Wear lightweight, breathable clothing and use sunscreen.
  • Know the signs of heat stress – Dizziness, headache, nausea, and confusion (as well as others) are red flags.
  • Adjust work schedules – Whenever possible, plan strenuous tasks for cooler parts of the day.
  • Ensure everyone in your household is aware of signs, symptoms and response
