Starting November 1 - Rumpke Recycles Clamshell Containers
Rumpke Waste & Recycling has introduced a new acceptable item for recycling customers—clamshell plastic containers! This includes the following items:
- Clear plastic carry-out containers
- Clear plastic fruit, berry and lettuce containers
- Clear plastic egg containers
Reminder that all items should be empty, clean and placed loose in resident's recycling containers. Do not place recycling items in plastic bags.
With the grand opening of the Rumpke Recycling & Resource Center, North America’s largest recycling facility, new artificial intelligence and optic technology allows Rumpke to separate plastic clamshells from other recycling containers and send them directly to end-users that create new plastic pellets. For now, clamshell recycling is only available to customers serviced by the Rumpke Recycling & Resource Center; this includes customers within Central, Northern and Southeast Ohio and West Virginia. As Rumpke continues to upgrade its other recycling facilities with new technology and end markets continue to expand, you can expect similar recycling options to become available in other areas as well.
